GREAT DAY FOR GORETEX

GORE-TEX is now a house hold name and without realising we forget just how incredible the product is.

In 1959 Wilbert L. (Bill) and Genevieve (Vieve) Gore launch Gore in the basement of their home in Newark, Delaware.

Bill left his job at DuPont to pursue what he believes is the untapped potential of the PTFE (polymer polytetrafluoroethylene).

A lot has changed since then and GORE-TEX has continued to be at the forefront of a lot of those changes. I first became aware of GORE-TEX through technical Mountain Climbing jackets, not because I was climbing or hiking in anyway. It was rap music and New York fashion that had my attention, which naturally led me to North Face jackets.

From then on a mild fascination with this mythical type material was born.

It wasn’t until 1989 that the company announced “GORE-TEX GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY®”

Our “e” hats were manufactured in that year.

Some deadstock hats with all the original labels still attached were sourced by some Vintage collector/seller friends of ours, we knew we had to have them. When we were thinking of branding them we wanted to make sure the integrity of the GORE-TEX was kept intact, so therefore we opted for a glue (that doesn’t harm the fabric) application. The hats are full GORE-TEX, meaning both the outside and inside are equipped to keep you dry. The inside layer also has full taped seams which was innovation they had created some ten years prior to the manufacturing of these hats.

They are the “long bill” style, not as long as some companies , Polo for example have very long bills, but slightly longer than a traditional cap adding to the style of these unique and premium items.

Hats available in our webstore now.
